Some of our customers’ process corrosive liquids and the overflow leaves a visible path to the drains. The path is typically concrete and the finished layer is typically eaten away leaving the large pea gravel showing. This type of destruction is difficult because we know the corrosive liquid is at work under the concrete and if left untreated can cause serious foundation troubles down the road.
We’ve seen this at a few of our bottling facilities over the years. The answer has been to water blast the affected area and then apply a ¼” topcoat of Belzona® 4111 (Magma Quartz). This non-porous material has a high compressive load strength of 13,000 psi so will stop the degradation of the substrate and still allow heavy equipment and machinery to move over it.
For some facilities, a few inches of the foundation has been compromised. In these cases Belzona® offers a few different solutions for rebuilding the floor and using the 4111 as a topcoat. Whatever the damage, we have permanent, cost-effective solutions.
We’ve had this material in service in many locations for decades.
Won’t you let us show you how we can help repair, protect and improve your facility?
